Mixed fortunes for Connacht clubs in All-Ireland Leagues

It was a mixed weekend of Ulster Bank League action for the Connacht clubs as two of the four clubs picked up valuable wins. In Division 1A Galwegians welcomed UCD to Crowley Park in what always promised to be a tough encounter. UCD arrived on the back of a narrow home defeat to Terenure two weeks ago but brushed that disappointment aside to register a comfortable 3-35 win. The defeat meant back-to-back losses for 'Wegians and dropped them to ninth in the table after six rounds of fixtures. Galwegians will be keen to bounce back when they visit Clontarf this weekend.
In Division 1B, Buccaneers suffered a second agonising loss in a row as they lost out to Dolphin RFC by a single point on a scoreline of 24-23. The Athlone side will hope that a return to Dubarry Park this weekend will inspire them to a win as they host Ballymena tomorrow.
Corinthians made it three Division 2A wins on the bounce as they brushed aside Skerries in Galway. A 27-9 victory was enough to lift Corinthians up to sixth in the table and they will look to further leave their early struggles in the past when they travel to face Naas tomorrow.
Sligo RFC were the second Connacht side to pick up a vital win last weekend as they downed Dundalk in battle of the bottom two in Division 2C. The win was Sligo's first of the season and pushes the club seven points clear of the bottom of the table as Dundalk remain pointless this season. Sligo will look to build on this improved performance when they host Old Cresent tomorrow afternoon.
