Galwegians and Buccaneers clash in the Ulster Bank League Division 1B in a crucial Connacht derby under lights at Crowley Park this evening.

Both sides come into the game with different ambitions for the rest of the season, as Buccaneers go in search of promotion to the top tier, while Galwegians continue to stagnate towards the bottom of the table.

Buccaneers claimed an impressive 24-12 victory over Galwegians when these sides last met in Athlone on November 18.

Conor McKeon, Mata Fifita and Eoghan O'Reilly were the try-scorers for Buccaneers at Dubarry Park.

Galwegians lost their seventh game of the season last weekend when fellow strugglers Shannon beat them 17-14 at Thomond Park. They are now just five points clear of Dolphin at the bottom of the standings and cannot afford to lose further ground ahead of a tough run-in.

Galwegians scored via a penalty try and an effort from Aidan Moynihan last weekend, as well as two Moynihan conversions.

But despite being level at 3-3 at half-time against the Limerick outfit, they fell to yet another loss.

Buccaneers continue to lead the way in Division 1B despite their 13-13 draw with Ballymena at Dubarry Park in Round 10.

Buccaneers have won eight of their league games this season, and they are two points ahead of second-placed UL Bohemians.

Are returning from a long lay-off, Connacht out-half Shane O'Leary scored a try, and while Alan Gaughan scored a drop-goal, penalty and conversion.

Buccaneers held a 13-0 lead at half-time but the Ulster side came back to tie the game.
