Last Saturday was another heart-breaking loss in the European Cup final for Clermont and you just have to feel sorry for them.

That is their second defeat in the European final in three years, and coupled with a few semi-final losses it seems they will forever be the bridesmaids.

Clermont are a super team who play some fantastic rugby and are always there or thereabouts, but just seem to fail on the big stage. I'm disappointed for them.

It will be a hard one to take for the players but also their supporters who packed out the town centre back in Clermont-Ferrand.

Although they have got some great players, in those top games, it seems their playmakers tend to come up with errors sometimes which are costly to them.

Brock James, who did not feature on Saturday, has had his problems in the past and Camille Lopez made a few mistakes too, while replacement scrum-half Ludovic Radosavljevic missed touch in the corner to pile the pressure on in the final minutes.

And then when time was up Lopez simply kicked the ball away to allow Toulon off the hook when a cool head was needed.
