The third round of fixtures in the Connacht Junior League threw up yet more entertaining contests as Galwegians 2nds won to go top of J1A.
Just two games were played in the top Connacht junior league last weekend; with Ballina not in action the door was left open for Galwegians to go top of the table, and the Galway side took their opportunity with a 40-10 win at Ballinasloe.
Westport were the other side to pick up a victory as they defeated Buccaneers 25-3.
There was a full round of fixtures played in J1B, where the early-season trend of away victories continued: the visitors won three of the four games played.
Tuam maintained their 100pc start to the season as they battled to a 14-8 victory away to Sligo. The win means Tuam remain top of the table after their third league win on the bounce.
Loughrea picked up their first league win of the season as they defeated Castlebar 20-17.
Creggs were the only home side to win in the third round of fixtures, beating NUIG 24-9.
The final fixture of the weekend saw Ballyhaunis pick up a much needed win as they downed OLBC 20-8 in Galway.
In J1C Ballinrobe made it two wins from two with a 31-20 victory at Claremorris.
The defeat leaves Claremorris leaves them with just one win from three matches but they still have much to be positive about as the Mayo club has more than held their own since making the step up from J2 at the beginning of this season.
In the other game in J1C Corrib RFC picked up a valuable home win over Galwegians.
The final score was 17-0 to the home side and the defeat means Galwegians are still in search of their first points of the season.
