Ireland manager Paul Dean has given a positive update on the fitness of Johnny Sexton and Rob Kearney ahead of Saturday's game against France.

The former international out-half said the injured pair would step up their recovery at training today and it is hoped that they will train fully when the team go through their most important training session of the week tomorrow.

The management will then assess their fitness before making a call on selection.

Sexton will be integrated back into the team session today, while Kearney is due to take some contact work.

Both players did individual rehabilitation work on Friday away from the team in Monaghan on Friday, while Conor Murray is due to train this week after having his training load managed last weekend due to his adductor issue.

Ireland will be without Josh van der Flier who suffered a Grade III adductor tear, but Peter O'Mahony is available.
