Connacht representative sides endured mixed fortunes in last weekend's Inter-provincial championships.

Both the U-18s and the Women battled through tough physical contests against Ulster to emerge victorious up North.

In contrast, both the Connacht U-19s and U-20s - sponsored by NUIG - suffered painful defeats on away trips to Leinster.

The U-20s kicked off an action-packed weekend on Friday night away to Leinster but despite a well-worked try from Peter Claffey, converted by Charlie McMiken, the Westerners could not match a powerful home side.

It was a similar story on Saturday evening in Donnybrook for the Connacht U-19s. Again a Leinster side proved far too strong and came away as convincing winners.

All three of the Connacht age- grade squads will have little time to dwell on the events of last weekend as they prepare for another hectic weekend of Inter-provincial rugby.

The Connacht U-20s will host Ulster in the Sportsground this evening as they look to get their campaign up and running.

Tomorrow both the U-18s and U-19s will be in action.

The U-18s travel to face Munster in Cork hoping to extend their record to two wins from two. The U-19s will be looking for their first win as they host Ulster at the Sportsground.
