The final weekend of UBL Division 1 action could result in a mouthwatering play-off match between Galwegians and Buccaneers.

Galwegians will be hoping to avoid this play-off when they take to the field against Cork Con tomorrow.

Galwegians require a bonus point victory over their Munster opposition to stand any chance of overtaking Terenure College, who currently sit in eighth place.

Galwegians know such a victory combined with a slip-up from Terenure would see them maintain their 1A status and avoid a play-off against teams from 1B.

The trip to Cork Con will also be a dress rehearsal for the Bateman Cup final which will be contested by these two great clubs on Saturday, April 30 in Glenina.

Buccaneers, on the other hand, will be hoping to make this play-off possibility a reality as they travel to face Shannon at the weekend. The match is of utmost importance to both clubs as Shannon still harbour relegation concerns.

Buccs currently lie in the final promotion play-off berth, three points ahead of Old Wesley, and a win or draw for the Pirates will seal that spot for the following weekend's play-off semi-finals.

Shannon, currently secure in sixth place, will be fighting desperately to preserve their Division 1B status. Although Belfast Harlequins are already relegated, just two points separates the four teams above them and that includes Shannon.

The nine-times champions will certainly not wish to slip up on home soil tomorrow.
