Familiar foe Carr to test 'Wegians
Buccaneers and Galwegians will once more lead the charge of the Connacht clubs as they both seek a route into the top flight of the Ulster Bank League.
With just five wins to their name and a subsequent relegation last season, Galwegians will be opposite a familiar finisher as they return to action in Division 1B this weekend.
And when Fionn Carr lines out for Naas in their season opener tomorrow at Forenaughts he will come up against plenty of friendly faces.
The 30-year-old former Connacht winger played 110 times for the province before he was released and returned to his former club in pre-season.
Carr, who is from Kildare, began playing rugby with Naas before he played with Newbridge College, UCD and Blackrock. And he had a glittering professional career which included two stints with Leinster as well as two with Connacht.
He won a Heineken Cup with the Blues in 2012 before he returned to Connacht; he was released at the end of last season, after he was part of the history-making side that won the Pro12 - Connacht's first ever piece of silverware.
"I am absolutely thrilled to be joining Naas RFC. This is where it all started for me," he said.
"I have followed the rise of the club through the ranks of the All-Ireland League with pride in recent seasons. I have now been given the chance to further their progress, and it is a challenge I'm looking forward to enormously."
Elsewhere in Division 1B, Buccaneers begin their campaign away to Ballynahinch in Ballymacarn Park.
In Division 2A Corinthians are away to Blackrock in Stradbrook, and Sligo host Navan at Hamilton Park in 2C.
