CONNACHT have been linked with former Ireland U20 star Stewart Maguire following the loss of tight-head Jamie Hagan.
Maguire, a 6'5" tight-head prop is a member of Leinster's Academy and, with Hagan returning to his native province next season, Connacht sources indicate that the 20-year-old is being lined up as a potential front-row capture.
Meanwhile, Connacht remain hopeful that new signings Matthew Jarvis and James Loxton will be deemed eligible to play for Ireland after a problem was detected.
Connacht maintained that 20-year-old Jarvis qualified for Ireland through his Cork grandmother and that Loxton (21) was also eligible as his mother hailed from Mayo.
However, the fact that both utility backs represented Wales U-20s -- designated as the country's second senior side due to the absence of an 'A' team -- was flagged by the WRU as a reason why the players could not represent another country. IRB regulation 8.3 says a player is deemed to have played for the senior 15-a-side national team or next senior team if he played against similarly designated teams of another country and this area is being investigated in relation to Jarvis and Loxton.
