Coleman delivers hat-trick to stun Pres Bray

Rugby Vinnie Murray Cup round-up

CBS Wexford stormed through to the quarter-finals for the first time with a shock 21-13 victory over Presentation College Bray at Gorey RFC.

Second-row Joe Coleman was the hero with a hat-trick of tries, two from the back of a maul and one from a ruck, with Sean Stafford expertly converting all three.

Elsewhere, Templeogue got off to a fast start to lead 21-0 after 15 minutes thanks to converted tries by out-half Matthew Timmins and locks Robert Trew and Ciaran Gibson. It set them up for a comfortable 42-5 defeat of East Glendalough at Seapoint RFC.

Captain and No 8 Robert Beverland charged for two tries as the High School overcame Skerries Community College 26-5 at Westmanstown.

St Patrick's Navan completely outplayed St Fintan's, Sutton, in a 36-7 triumph at Ashbourne RFC, sharing out their five tries among centre Ben McEntaggart, full-back Ronan Meegan and forwards Oisin Lavin-Kelly, Shane Faulkner and Conor Farrell.

St Gerard's School whitewashed CBS Naas 50-0 as Ireland Schools back Con Callan and No 8 Daniel King both grabbed a brace of tries at Lakelands Park.
