club XV unleash big guns
THE Ireland Club XV will be hoping to retain the Dalriada Cup as they take on the Scots in their annual clash at Anglesea Road tonight (6.30), writes Ruaidhri O'Connor.
Despite Shannon and Garryowen's refixed derby taking place at the same time, coach Conor Twomey has named a strong side.
All-Ireland League table-toppers Clontarf are represented by Simon Crawford, Barry O'Mahony and Killian Lett, while second-placed St Mary's provide Rob Sweeney and Hugh Hogan, who is at No 8 alongside Crawford and O'Mahony in a fearsome back-row.
Cork Constitution's Gerry Hurley partners Lansdowne's Mark Ronaldson at half-back.
Dolphin's Christy Condon starts at prop having been included in Munster's Heineken Cup squad.
Given the once-off nature of this fixture, it is hard to know what to expect and the results have fluctuated.
But Twomey will be confident, given the strength of the squad he has assembled.
