BRIAN O'DRISCOLL is scheduled to see a specialist today as Leinster assess their walking wounded following Sunday's bruising bonus-point defeat in Clermont, WRITES HUGH FARRELLY.
The Ireland captain missed the 20-13 loss to the French champions -- having failed to recover from the jaw injury he sustained against Argentina a fortnight earlier -- but Leinster remain hopeful O'Driscoll will be able to play some part in the return fixture this weekend.
Updates are also expected today on back-rows Sean O'Brien and Jamie Heaslip as well as the various other knocks picked up at the Stade Marcel Michelin.
O'Brien was unable to remain steady on his feet following the heavy blow he received after taking the ball into contact in the first half, and while the exact nature of the injury was not clear afterwards, coach Joe Schmidt said it was "nothing to do with his head".
While O'Brien stayed on the pitch to put in a powerful performance, Heaslip was forced off just after half-time due to an early ankle injury -- despite doing his utmost to stay on.
The Ireland No 8 was seen wearing heavy ankle strapping upon leaving the ground.
