Leinster coach Leo Cullen names Robbie Henshaw and Sean O'Brien in formidable Champions Cup squad
Leo Cullen has named an international-laden squad, containing 25 forwards and 16 backs, for Leinster’s forthcoming Champions Cup campaign.
The eastern province begin their European odyssey at the RDS on October 15 against French side Castres. Leinster, in Pool 4, have also been grouped with Northampton and Montpellier.
Cullen and co will hoping to bounce back from last season’s disappointment after failing to emerge from a hellacious group containing Bath, Wasps and Toulon.
In fine form, Leinster have won four of their opening five Pro 12 clashes and, prior to the arrival of Castres, they entertain Munster in their first derby of the season.
Cullen has included Robbie Henshaw, who arrived from Connacht in the summer, but has since been recovering from a knee surgery following an injury he suffered during Ireland’s tour of South Africa.
Sean O’Brien has also been named, though he has yet to make an appearance after sustaining a hamstring injury in February, which also required surgery. New recruits Jamison Gibson-Park and Ian Nagle are also in the mix.
Cullen has also given the nod to four academy players; impressive out-half Joey Carberry, prop Andrew Porter and backs Rory O’Loughlin and Nick McCarthy.
