Munster Schools Snr Cup champions Rockwell put on a show of ruthless efficiency when opening their campaign yesterday at Clanwilliam.

Led up front by a powerful display in the pack by captain Diarmuid Barron, prop James Kendrick and flankers Mikey Wilson and Ben Murray, Rockwell's superior ball-winning and carrying gave the backs a fine foundation.

After Paudie Feehan landed a penalty in the 15th minute, Paudie Leamy finished off an impressive right-left movement with a try near the corner after taking a nice pass from Jamie Stone. On the opposite wing, Brian Fitzpatrick made it 13-0 when he scored an fine try after a scrum sent Mike Casey, Josh Pickering and finally Paudie Feehan on the delivery.

Mike Casey then punished Bandon's indiscipline - which saw them pick up two yellow cards - when he made for the line after a quick break for their third try. The same player closed the scoring after a length-of-the-pitch break by Conor Cashman and Chris Egan, to complete the job.
