The 23-year-old second row joined the club from Exeter Chiefs on loan last February, but couldn't help the team avoid relegation to the Championship.

However, the young lock did enough to be included in the club's rebuilding plans for next season.

“I’m pleased to have made my move to London Irish permanent and I’m really looking forward to helping the club achieve its ultimate goal of promotion back to the Aviva Premiership at the first time of asking,” Sexton said in a statement on the London Irish website.

“The facilities here at Hazelwood are second to none and the infrastructure is in place for the club to realise its long-term ambitions. London Irish is a family club built on a rich history and tradition and I’m delighted to have signed for the club,” he added.

The St Mary's College past pupil has been capped by Ireland at U20 level, and has also spent time in France with Pro D2 club Auch.
