UNDER-fire Springboks coach Peter de Villiers has recalled World Cup winners Juan Smith and JP Pietersen for the Tri-Nations clash with the All Blacks on Saturday.

Flanker Smith, a regular member of the 'Boks line-up since 2003 with 62 caps, replaces Ryan Kankowski, restoring the tried-and-tested loose-forward combination with Pierre Spies and Schalk Burger.

The All Blacks, who thumped the 'Boks twice in New Zealand last month and have all but secured the Tri-Nations title, have made just two changes to the team that beat Australia 20-10 in Christchurch on August 7.

Scrum-half Jimmy Cowan returns from injury, pushing Piri Weepu back on to the bench, while tight-head prop Owen Franks is replaced by his older brother Ben. Coach Graham Henry said Owen needed a break.
