Phelan seeks response as Pumas recall Tiesi
GONZALO TIESI is the surprise name in the Argentina squad who will take on Ireland in the final game of next month's Guinness Series.
The former Harlequins and Stade Francais back has not played for the Pumas since last year's World Cup when he went home injured, but having impressed for the San Isidro Club in Argentina's domestic league, coach Santiago Phelan has given him a recall.
Martin Rodriguez misses out through injury and Rodrigo Roncero has retired, while Juan Martin Hernandez has been named despite recent injury problems.
There are 11 home-based players in the 27-man squad, with 12 based in France. Argentina begin their tour in Wales on November 10, before taking on France and Ireland.
They finished their first Rugby Championship winless and coach Phelan wants a response. "We have to keep growing as we did in the Rugby Championship, and I'm keen to do it well," he said.
