Always an eye to future
A friend commented last week that Irish rugby exists in a perpetual future, a sort of 'we're nearly there' mentality which sees each defeat shrugged off.
And so it is that this morning we can 'take the positives' from yesterday's horror show in Rome.
The next day, the new caps will be better for the experience, the injured players will be back to bolster the squad, and the team will get a "massive lift" from the likely arrival of a new coach.
It will be great.
