Christy Condon (Dolphin)

Condon's progression with Munster (he was recently added to their Heineken Cup squad) is a major reason behind the province allowing Peter Borlase switch to Connacht. A compact, nuggety scrummager, Condon has been superb for the Cork club all season and produced another excellent display in tight and loose in Saturday's win over Old Belvedere which should prevent relegation.

We have become so accustomed to the Temple Hill outfit, inaugural AIL champions in 1991, contesting the title each year that it is unsettling to find them out of the running with five games still to go. Con have finished top of the table in each of the last five seasons but last weekend's narrow loss away to Clontarf was their sixth defeat of the campaign, their pain accentuated by the fact that their conquerors fielded three former Con stalwarts, Richie Lane, Evan Ryan and Frank Cogan.
