Roscommon stalwart Karol Mannion has announced his retirement from inter-county football.

The St Brigid's clubman hangs up his boots with the reputation as one of the most polished players in the game.

Mannion made his debut for Roscommon in 2002 and was rewarded for his years of service to the Yeats county with a Cannacht title in 2010.

He has also achieved significant success with his club St Brigids with whom he won an All-Ireland club medal last year after an epic battle with Ballymun. His performance in that memorable final earned him the man-of-the-match award.

He will continue to play for his club.
