Ronan O'Gara rules out Munster return to extend stay with Racing Metro
Ronan O'Gara will not be joining Anthony Foley's Munster backroom team next season after confirming that he is ready to sign a contract to extend his stay at Paris club Racing Metro.
O'Gara told the Irish Examiner that he is in advanced talks and close to signing a two-year deal with the French giants that will see him remain with the Top 14 side until at least 2016.
The new deal will see his responsibilities extended to that of defence coach and skills coach, and he will retain responsibility for the kicking game at Racing.
“It’s been a steep learning curve for me in terms of learning my trade as a coach and from the point of view of a family," he said.
"Jessica and the children also love the lifestyle here. It’s been a really interesting 12 months, you see everything from the ground up in this project.”
Racing Metro face a season-defining Top 14 ‘elimination final’ trip to Toulouse this Friday having lost out on an automatic semi-final spot following their defeat to Montpellier over the weekend.
