WATCH - Who is Thomas Barry? Sports minister Shane Ross in embarrassing Rio mix-up

Sports minister Shane Ross touched down in Dublin Airport this morning after cutting short his trip to the Rio Olympics to brief the cabinet on the ticket touting scandal surrounding the OCI.

He was mobbed by reporters in Terminal 2 and gave an update on the situation surrounding Pat Hickey, who is currently is hospital after being arrested as part of the investigation into the alleged touting controversy.

Asked if the ticket touring affair had overshadowed the performance of the Irish Athletes, Minister Ross was keen to point out some of the stellar performances our athletes have produced at the Olympics.

He made mention of 'Thomas Barry's' amazing run in the 400m hurdles where he broke the Irish record and missed out on a bronze medal by just five hundredths of a second. Of course, he was referring to Waterford's Thomas Barr.

He called the Ferrybank AC athlete 'Thomas Barry' twice in the interview.
