The Men's Olympic golf event may be shorn of most of the sport's stars but the opening round has still been very entertaining.

The Irish duo of Padraig Harrington and Seamus Power are in contention although Australian Marcus Fraser has taken the lead on day one after some impressive early play.

However, Englishman Justin Rose will be looking to overtake his rivals after this stunning tee shot at the par three fourth.

The former US Open winner hit the first hole in one in Olympic golf history after a glorious strike that saw the ball disappear into the cup.

Rose's sweet shot was one of a number of exciting moments on day one, and it is good to see that the event can still blossom without the presence of Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, Jason Day and the rest of the sport's absentees.

Relive Rose's memorable ace right here.
