As expected the two races involving the Irish crews had been rescheduled for Thursday at 12.50 and 1.10pm respectively. The finals go ahead as scheduled for Friday – weather permitting, of course.
Indeed, for the second time in 72 hours there was disappointment for the Irish crews at the Rio Olympic regatta today when racing was cancelled.
The two lightweight double sculls boats of Sinead Lynch and Claire Lambe and the O'Donovan brothers were due to compete in the semi-finals of their respective events with the top three going through to the finals.
However, due to strong winds in the Copacabana area the entire programme was abandoned. This is the second time that an entire day's racing has been lost due to adverse weather conditions – the programme was abandoned on Sunday as well.
However, weather allowing, the foursome should compete as scheduled tomorrow.
