The 36-year-old THG director was released from preventive custody in the Brazilian city on Saturday night after 22 days behind bars.

He was arrested after police discovered 823 tickets for the Rio Olympics at his hotel in the city on August 5, the day of the opening ceremony.

Two mobile phones and a notebook was taken from Mr Mallon by police.

Now police officer Aloysio Falcao has revealed that Rio police want to get a further statement from Mr Mallon.

"We are going out to Kevin Mallon this week just to get his testimonial.

"There is information we know now that we didn't know at the time of the arrest.

"We need to ask more questions."

Mr Falcao also said there will likely be a number of civil cases taken against Olympic Council of Ireland (OCI) Authorised Ticket Reseller (ATR) Pro10 and THG in Brazil after around 1,000 customers lost out on tickets to the events following police seizures.
