President of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, has broken his silence on the Rio Ticket scandal and called on Brazilian authorities to consider sending Pat Hickey back to Ireland on health grounds.
71-year-old Hickey is currently in Rio de Janeiro where he his facing trial for alleged ticket touting at the Games. Both he and THG director Kevin Mallon deny all allegations made against them in relation to ticketing at the event.
Thus far, the IOC has remained silent on the issue.
In quotes reported on Insidethegames.biz, Bach said that he had not spoken to Hickey in recent weeks, adding: "This is in the hand of the Brazilian authorities at the moment.
"For us it is very clear that the presumption of innocence prevails and we hope that a good solution will be found to address his [Hickey] difficult health situation.
"And that hopefully he can have his treatment and surgery in Ireland."
