Noel Meade's eight-year-old was pipped for second in the dying strides at Prestbury Park having already tasted Grade One success on home soil in the Jnwine.com Champion Chase and Lexus Chase this season.

Road To Riches finished runner-up to Operating in the Aon Novice Handicap Chase at last year's Punchestown Festival.

The trainer said: "If he brings his A-game to Punchestown, he'll have a big chance in the Bibby Financial Services Ireland Punchestown Gold Cup."

Another confirmed for the Gold Cup is Colin Tizzard's Cue Card who looked much more like his old self when second to Don Cossack at Aintree, albeit beaten a long way.

"Cue Card will go for the Bibby Financial Services Ireland Punchestown Gold Cup and the way he travelled and jumped he looked back to his old self for a long way at Aintree," said Joe Tizzard, assistant trainer to his father.

Don Cossack, Djakadam, Flemenstar and The Giant Bolster are among 12 who remain.

Tizzard is also set to be represented at Punchestown by impressive Aintree winner Thistlecraic

"The plan is to bring Thistlecrack over - he missed Cheltenham and then was very impressive at Aintree. He worked nicely this morning and I would imagine he will go over three miles again in the Irish Daily Mirror Novice Hurdle," said Tizzard.

Willie Mullins has eight of the 20 remaining in the Grade One, including Cheltenham winner Killultagh Vic and Shaneshill. No More Heroes and Alpha Des Obeaux also stand their ground.
