Michael van Gerwen, Phil Taylor and back-to-back world champion Gary Anderson warmed up for a crack at the €400,000 Coral UK Open in Butlins this weekend with comprehensive displays in last night's Premier League.

Van Gerwen, fresh from his world record three-dart average of 123.4 last week, was too good for the in-form Peter Wright and went joint top with a comfortable 7-2 win.

Sixteen-time world champion Taylor blew Stoke rival Adrian Lewis away with a 7-1 hammering while Anderson took time to get into his groove but eventually defeated Scottish compatriot Robert Thornton 7-4 .The all-English affair saw James Wade beat Dave Chisnall 7-4.

Reigning UK champion Van Gerwen enters the action in tonight's third round along with the likes of Taylor and Anderson.
