'No regrets' - Ireland's James McGee misses out on Australian Open at final hurdle

Ireland's James McGee has failed in his bid to make the main draw at the Australian Open in Melbourne.

The Castleknock native was beaten in straight sets by 151-ranked German Daniel Brands, 7-6 (7-1), 6-4.

McGee, ranked 191, was bidding to get to the first round for the first time in  his career.

Afterwards he tweeted: “Tough loss today, Brands deserved it. No regrets as I gave everything. I'll be back stronger no doubt.”
