There was an emotional moment during the Wimbledon final when Marin Cilic appeared to break down in tears on Centre Court.

The Croatian was a set and two games down as he faced off against Roger Federer, who was bidding to win an eight Wimbledon title.

Former Wimbledon champion Boris Becker could only speculate as to what has caused the world number five's breakdown.

"That is what this court does to you," said Becker.

"There is no hiding place. Everyone in the world and in Croatia is watching him, and he knows that.

"I just hope for him that he gets into the swing of things."

After eventually losing the second 6-1 Cilic was forced to take a medical timeout.

Medical staff attended the Croatian, re-strapping a foot injury which Cilic appeared to have before the match began.

Cilic would ultimately be beaten  6-3 6-1 6-4 as the Swiss won a record eighth title.
