Tennis: McGee powers through

Ireland's James McGee powered past two opponents to clinch a quarter-final place in the ITF Men's Futures event in Tunis, Tunisia, WRITES Paddy Hickey.
No 6 seed McGee first saw off the Czech Republic's Tomas Hrabec 6-3 6-1 and he followed up with a 7-5 6-2 victory over Egypt's Omar Hedayet.
Today, the 22-year-old Dubliner takes on Tunisia's No 2 seed Malek Jaziri, who eliminated McGee's Davis Cup team-mate Colin O'Brien 6-3 6-3 in the second round.
Earlier, O'Brien had dumped out the host country's Slim Hamza 6-3 6-1. Also in the first round, unseeded Dubliner James Cluskey fell to No 8 seed, Italy's Marco Simoni 6-2 6-7 (1/7) 4-6.
On the higher level ATP Challenger Tour Circuit, Conor Niland succumbed 4-6 4-6 to Slovenia's Luka Gregorc in the first round of the hard-court event in Ojai, California.
Irish duo Sam Barry and John Morrissey also bowed out in the first round of the boys' doubles in the French Junior Open 6-2 3-6 6-10 (champions' tie break) to French brothers Lucas and Thomas Szewczyk.
