IRELAND'S James McGee yesterday took two scalps to clinch a place in the final qualifying round of the ATP Challenger Tour event in Bath, England.
The 23-year-old Dubliner opened with a 6-4 6-2 win over British wild card Lewis Burton.
In the second round, McGee, a member of the Ireland team for the recent Davis Cup clash with Luxembourg, turned the form book on its head with a 6-4 6-3 victory over the No 5 seed, Switzerland's 352-ranked Alexander Sadecky.
And the Castleknock man will have to overcome another Swiss player, No 3 seed Michael Lammer, who is ranked at 339, to nail down a place in the 32-strong main draw.
McGee's Davis Cup team-mate Conor Niland is the No 8 seed in the main draw, and Luxembourg's Gilles Muller, winner of his three matches in the Davis Cup tie against Ireland, is seeded No 4.
