Star showing for Gleeson

Rathangan trainers enjoyed another major success on Saturday night at Shelbourne as the Robert Gleeson-trained Ardkill Star was a surprise but decisive winner of the €6,000 Billy Mulvaney Memorial 600.
The lightly raced dog, owned jointly by Ciaran Mangan and Flat jockey Willie Supple, was expected to run a big race but we didn't anticipate him leading them all a merry dance to the bend.
Once he was clear into the far side, it was evident that nothing would trouble him and he raced away to win by three lengths from fellow Rathangan residents Razldazl Barack and Droopys Harvey in 33.16.
Other notable runs on the supporting card included the victories of Tracey Muldoon's Tinas Nova (29.06) and Kevin Losty's Dundrum Master (28.92) in the respective finals of two open 525 competitions.
The second round of the Pat Hennerty Sales Irish Laurels was run at Curraheen Park and once again Ronny Wuyts' Rockchase Bullet was the star performer.
This time he produced a heroic effort as he came from well behind to beat Sede Vacante by a neck in a best-of-the-night 28.26.
Paul Hennessy had the two easiest heat winners of the night as Colorful Champ raced home in 28.31 and Barefoot Admiral in 28.62.
There were also notable 28.40 runs from Peter Cronin's Bombolini, John Cusack's Newlawn Tock and Tom O'Neill's Dream Walker.
