Sponsor boost for triathletes
TRIATHLON Ireland's Olympic hopefuls were significantly boosted yesterday by the announcement of a three-year sponsorship deal with Vodafone Ireland, WRITES CLIONA FOLEY.
The deal will help fund Ireland's elite triathletes and also includes title sponsorship of the 22-race Vodafone National Series and the Triathlete of the Year awards.
Emma Davis was Ireland's first Olympic qualifier in Beijing and she will be chasing the qualification criteria (top 55 in the world) for the London Olympics along with Aileen Morrison (Derry), Gavin Noble (Enniskillen) and Bryan Keane (Cork).
Morrison and Noble are currently ranked 11th and 33rd respectively and their next big event is the European Championships in Pontavedra, Spain, on June 24-26.
