Snooker: Judge delivers positive verdict
There were mixed results for the Irish yesterday at the the Royal London Watches Grand Prix in Aberdeen.
Michael Judge, who defeated fellow Dubliner Ken Doherty 4-3 on Monday night, maintained his good run by recording a deserved 4-2 victory over Antrim's Mark Allen.
Joe Swail, though, lost 4-2 to Joe Perry, but this was only a temporary setback for the Belfast player who has already secured his last 16 place after winning his first four matches.
Former world champion Doherty suffered another blow as he was whitewashed 4-0 by Rickey Walden, while Joe Delaney was defeated 4-2 by Liu Song.
Meanwhile, Peter Ebdon was left kicking himself despite his 4-2 victory over Mark Selby. The 2002 world champion was heading for a 147 break after clearing all 15 reds and 15 blacks.
However, Ebdon missed a routine pink on a break of 134 when the maximum was within touching distance.
