Rafa Nadal was showing all the signs of a battle as he defeated Grigor Dimitrov to set-up a mouth-watering semi-final with Roger Federer in the Australian Open.

Nadal conceded he was lucky after the 3-6 7-6 (3) 7-6 (7) 6-2 win over the Bulgarian and Dimitrov had three set points in the third that would have given him a two sets to one lead.

The Spaniard now meets his great rival Roger Federer after he put in a scintillating performance to defeat Andy Murray.

Pictures of Nadal’s hand showed just how tough he had to dig in order to see of Dimitrov and can expect an even sterner test next time out against the 17-time Grand Slam champion.
