Cork middleweight Gary 'Spike' O'Sullivan edged closer to a world title shot after claiming a North American title in Boston on Saturday.
The Leesider stopped Melvin Betancourt in the second round on the James DeGale v Andre Dirrell undercard at the Agganis Arena and now has Limerick's WBO world champion Andy Lee in his sights for an all-Munster 'All-Ireland'.
DeGale claimed the vacant IBF super-middle title on points in the main event and dedicated his win to the late Darren Sutherland, whom he fought at amateur level.
Meanwhile, Ireland claimed one gold, two silver and five bronze medals at the World Women's Youth and Junior and European Junior Men's Championships in Taiwan and the Ukraine.
Niamh Earley, Jason Harty, Natasha Logan, Jim O'Reilly, Lorcan Hurley, Kelsey Leonard, Anthony Johnston and Joanne Richards all finished in podium positions.
