O'Leary's blood ties to glory at previous Games
Peter O'Leary is the scion of a Cork business family whose successful insurance operation was founded by his grandfather, Archie O'Leary.
Archie O'Leary became a lifelong sailor and devotee of the world's oldest yacht club, the Royal Cork in Crosshaven. He was a keen horse-racing fan. Sailing has also been the passion of Archie's son, Anthony, and his grandsons including Peter and Nicholas.
Peter's mother Sally Aisher is the daughter of British Olympian Robin Aisher. He won bronze at the 1968 Mexico Olympics.
Robin's father was Owen Aisher who in 1958 was honoured as Britain's Yachtsman of the Year -- an honour that his son, Robin, would also receive in 1975 when he captained Britain to a win in the Admiral's Cup.
He was -- before his death in 1993 -- one of the regular sailing companions of the Duke of Edinburgh.
