Nicolas Roche back in second place in Tour of Spain after blistering time trial

Nicolas Roche is back into second place after a blistering performance in today’s stage of the Tour of Spain.

The Irish rider came sixth in today’s 38.8km time trial in Tarazona, finishing +1:48" behind the stage winner Fabian Cancellara  of Team RadioShack.

The result means that Roche is back up to second in the overall standings, 33 seconds behind  Italy's Vincenzo Nibali.

Former world and Olympic time trial champion Cancellara finished ahead of Germany's Tony Martin on the hilly individual time trial starting and finishing in Tarazona, with Italy's Domenico Pozzovivo third and Nibali fourth.

Nibali regained the overall lead he had held earlier in the race, with Roche second.

The race finishes on September 15 in Madrid.
