According to Fox 2, Bruce Miller got into a confrontation with an elderly male and the man's son at a hotel after knocking on the door of their room.

The NFL star apparently tried to check in to the San Francisco hotel earlier that day but was refused as there were no rooms available.

The 70-year-old and his son are reportedly being treated for their injuries in hospital.

The 49ers responded to the matter swiftly this afternoon, tweeting that they had cut Miller with immediate effect.

He had been with the team since 2011.
