Magee retains belt by flooring Markussen

EX-Irish Olympian Brian Magee dramatically knocked out Rudy Markussen to retain his WBA interim super-middleweight title in Denmark on Saturday night.

The Belfast southpaw dropped the Dane two-and-a-half minutes into the fifth with a left to the body to take his record to 36 wins (25 KOs) from 41 outings at the Brondby Hall. In a tight fight, all three ringside judges had the score at 38-38 after four rounds. Magee is now expected to target WBA champion Karoly Balzsay.

Elsewhere, Spain's Jennifer Miranda has been named as a replacement for Cindy Orain of France for the Katie Taylor triple-header in her home town of Bray next weekend.
