HE MAY have bowed out with barely a whimper himself, but Scott Evans says team-mate Chloe Magee can keep the Irish flag flying against another Asian opponent today (2.17).

The Donegal shuttler has already despatched lower-ranked Egyptian Hadia Hosny but must now take the valued scalp of Hongyan Pi to stay in the tournament.

Pi is a 33-year-old former Chinese international who declared for France in 2003 and won bronze medals at the 2009 World Championships and the 2010 Europeans.

But Evans believes 23-year-old Magee can do it.

"She has a great chance," he said. "I was training in France two years ago and Hongyan Pi was in bits. This is her last tournament and she has a lot of problems all over her body. I would say Chloe would be the favourite.

"I don't think she played too well," he said of Magee's opener. "I think she was a bit nervous, but she's got one game under her belt now and she can just go in and give it everything she has and I think she should win."
