Signs for Manchester United from bitter rivals Leeds for £1.2m. Despite Alex Ferguson's late onset of nerves, the Frenchman would kick-start a new era.

January 1995

Cantona's moment of infamy: he is fined £20,000 and banned for nine months after launching a kung-fu kick on a Crystal Palace supporter following a red card.

May 1996

With Steve Bruce injured, he is named captain against Liverpool in the FA Cup final and scores the winner in the 86th minute to secure the Double for United.

May 1997

United are in shock as Cantona announces his retirement from football at the age of 30. His final match is the testimonial for Coventry's David Busst.
