Olympic champion Katie Taylor will not fight as part on the Andy Lee undercard later this month, just days after it was announced she would feature at Thomond Park

Taylor was included on the Lee versus Billy Joe Saunders undercard at when the Limerick native defends his WBO world middleweight title on September 19.

Taylor was due to box over four two-minute rounds in Lee's home town to International Boxing Association (AIBA) rules in front of an AIBA-approved referee and judges, but in a statement released today via her management company and the fight promoters, it was confirmed it will no longer be going ahead.

“It is with great regret that Katie Taylor will not be taking part on the Andy Lee Undercard at Thomond Park on September 19th. We would like to wish Andy all the best,” the statement read.

“We believe we did everything we could to make this event happen but unfortunately on this occasion, the outcome was not to be,” Adam Booth, who is Andy Lee’s trainer and manager, said.
