The favourites failed to deliver in the semi-finals of the John J Casey Open 575 at Shelbourne on Saturday, although they did make it through to next weekend's final.
Victory instead went to Whatsupjack and Three One Three, two dogs that flashed from the traps.
Whatsupjack set a massive early gallop and the final danger was removed when Accordello and Deanridge Fury bumped off the final bend as the latter drifted wide.
Whatsupjack went on to win by two and a half lengths in the impressive time of 31.39 on a track that was clearly running slow and was perhaps a tad bit generously rated at 0.50s slow for the distance. Accordello got up to beat Deanridge Fury by half a length for second.
In the other semi-final, Three One Three exploded from trap four and was clear down the far side from Dairyland Chaos.
The favourite Corporate Attack looked ideally poised at the first bend, but got lost around it and was trailing the field entering the back.
Nothing looked like getting to Three One Three and he won by two-and-a-half lengths from Ashcarne Jack in 31.50, with Corporate Attack getting up to finish a three-length third.
The other big open race on Saturday was the final of the Con Kirby Memorial Open 550 at Limerick, where Bellewood Pilot provided sponsor and joint owner Noreen McManus with a big moment as he led all the way for a length-and-a-half margin over kennel companion Gold Slipalong in 30.08.
Noreen is a daughter of the late Con Kirby.
