Greyhounds: Tyrur McGuigan Open 575
Tonight we welcome the start of the open racing season in Ireland with the first rounds of the Tyrur McGuigan Open 575 at Shelbourne Park and the Vetsearch International Kennedy Cup at Limerick.
From this point on, it will be open fare all the way through to the third week of December in what promises to be another magnificent campaign for the sport.
Event sponsor PJ Fahy has very lively contenders for all three heats of the Tyrur competition and it would be no surprise if he ended up with a treble.
In the first heat he has the very pacey Tyrur Domingo, and the inside box could be a real advantage in what looks a cracking contest.
The obvious main danger is St Leger runner-up Hare Mack, which is also perfectly drawn in six.
Tyrur Lucky is the kennel representative in the second heat and will be a strong favourite to lead all the way.
Tyrur Lohan is one of the fastest dogs Fahy has ever owned, but his career has been badly interrupted by injury. If he is spot on for the third heat, he will win, but in De Ex Factor and Three One Three he has very formidable rivals.
A very interesting runner on the supporting card is Razldazl George in an open 525. This fellow looks a real prospect, though he would be better over a longer trip.
Down at Limerick there is a strong turnout for the Kennedy Cup and the bankers of the evening could be Beaming Dilemma, Joey Jojo Junior and Cabra Legend.
Beaming ran like a dream in the Leger and can defy an unfavourable outside draw, but Joey Jojo Junior represents the banker selection.
The semi-finals of the Open Unraced Stake will be run at Clonmel tomorrow night, with fastest winner Express Shuttle a non-runner after changing hands. In his absence, Modges Hawk can maintain his unbeaten record.
5pts Tyrur Lucky 10.15 Shel Pk
