Greyhounds: Razldazl pair lead the way
The Irish challenge for the English Derby progressed nicely at the weekend and we have 10 survivors into next Saturday's third round at Wimbledon.
Dolores Ruth continues to lead the way with Razldazl Jayfkay and Razldazl George posting two extremely fast times on Friday and they are now the clear favourites to land the Classic.
Star Irish performer on Saturday was Paul Hennessy's Barefoot Bullet as he led all the way for a convincing victory in 28.60 from Destroy The Camp.
The shock of the night from an Irish viewpoint was the elimination of Makeshift, as he failed to get away to his normal fast start and faded late to lose out on qualification by the minimum margin.
The big attraction at Shelbourne was the rematch between Tyrur Big Mike and Broadstrand Lad and this time the Conor Fahy-trained Big Mike turned the tables on his rival. A flying start saw him race clear down the back and he then held off Broadstrand by two lengths in 28.84 on a slow track.
There was a brilliant run from Paul Hennessy's Tyrur Tinkerbell as she warmed up for the Oaks, which closes to entries today at 2.0.
Another very impressive winner was Pat Buckley's Paradise Casino as he clocked 31.20 for the 575 yards. The other heat of this competition saw Razldazl Barack score in 31.40.
