Greyhounds: Racing in Curraheen Park

Derby runner-up Tyrur Big Mike will not take his place in the second round of the Pat Hennerty Sales Irish Laurels at Curraheen Park this evening.

PJ Fahy yesterday said that the dog has a few small injury problems after his narrow first-round win and stated that the dog will now be rested until resuming his racing career with the Easter Cup in March.

In his absence, the Paul Hennessy-trained Colorful Champ will be a strong favourite for Heat 7, where Broadstrand Lad and Noelles Kido look the main dangers.

But the Tyrur team is still very strong and the Conor Fahy-trained Tyrur Enda will be very short for Heat 8. His brilliant early pace should carry him clear around the bend from Faypoint Dave, but it would be no surprise if big finishing De Ex Factor was closest to the favourite by the line.

Don't be surprised if Tyrur Bucko also steps up to the plate in Heat 4 where the inside draw could see him grab the initiative from Tranquil Time, Barefoot Admiral and Beaming Dilemma.

The bet of the evening for many will be Pat Buckley's Tullymurry Act, which made a rapid return to his best form in the first round. Trap six may not be a very favourable draw, but it should make little difference and Tullymurry is the nap choice to lead home Belvedere Champ and Droopys Sastre.

A value bet could be Mossie O'Connor's Kiowa Myth in a very competitive Heat 5.

The top bitches will be in action in the final of the Droopys Stud Munster Oaks at Waterford today and here the strong running Clearview Kelly may emerge on top. Cartiers Dazzle is a confirmed runner and looks a likely leader, but she may be suspect to the anticipated big finish of Clearview Kelly.

It will be semi-final time in the Agri Store Fair Warrior Sprint at Mullingar today and a sporting double would be value bet Bunlahy Brett and likely favourite Inny Blue. At Shelbourne, the bet of the night could arrive in the final race, a heat of an open 575 where Hare Mack can follow up from his fine effort on Derby final night.
