Greyhounds: Kerry Agribusiness Irish St Leger at Limerick Stadium

The defeat of Makeshift was one of the main surprises of the first round, but Dolores Ruth's Champion Stakes winner can recoup those losses in the second round of the Kerry Agribusiness Irish St Leger at Limerick Stadium this evening.

A dog with fine early pace, Makeshift can beat Slippery Bob for the vital first bend lead and then race on to victory.

Fraser Black can get the round off to a winning start for punters with Westmead Bond nicely housed in the six box.

Brian Kirwan's Monlesa Alsation handled the track nicely last week and a trap six draw gives him a serious chance of winning what is a red hot Heat 3. Strong cases can be made for all six runners here, but Monlesa is capable of getting first run and staying out front.

Pat Gordon's Thurlesbeg Joker is another to have on your side in Heat 4, but Heat 5 strikes one as a race to savour for future reference with Farley Turbo, Farley Blitz and Skywalker Queen all holding big chances.

Incidentally, Imelda Cahalan has been appointed Sales Commercial and Operations Manager at Limerick Stadium and will take up her position on Monday next.

The four second-round heats of the Comerford Cakes National Puppy Stake should provide tremendous racing at Shelbourne with likely victories for Farloe Force, Mozzletoff and Deerfield Music. However, Heat 3 promises to be a real corker and the vote goes to Modern Man to see off Pennys Viking, Rockchase Zico and Cool Dude.

The other track highlight this evening will be at Thurles where the semi-finals of the Track Bookmakers Champion Bitch Stake hold centre stage.

Air Force Ellie has a difficult trap six draw to overcome in the first heat, but should prevail, while Calling Spice's renowned early pace can carry her to victory in the second.
