Thrills, spills and shocks were the order of the night when the first round of the Tote Gold Cup was run at Shelbourne Park on Saturday night.
Thurlesbeg Joker and Fatboyz Nodrog emerged as the star performers of the session.
Former UK racer Thurlesbeg Joker, now under the care of Owen McKenna, gave a superb performance in winning the first heat as he flew past Royal Tornado at the third bend and went on to win by three lengths from the strong-finishing De Ex Factor in a scorching 28.32.
McKenna completed a heat double, and a treble on the night, when Pablo Supreme claimed Heat 6 in 28.85.
The other eye-catching performance of the night came from Pat Gordon's Fatboyz Nodrog as he made his sizzling early pace tell in Heat 4. Soon in command, Nodrog was strong throughout and had a six length winning margin over Almost Chilli in 28.47.
